Sorry I wasn't ignoring you, I was pondering out loud on what the
signifiers are in a piece of writing. If I want to regard a piece of
writing as a poem I can, but we don't have to reach agreement on this. I
don't think there's much mileage in trying to define the specific
indicators of poetry or prose. Ernest seems to claim that the pricipal
indicator is the original intent of the writer. I'm happy with that
although none of us have to agree.
