Lecturer in Medical Statistics (Scale A)
A lecturer in medical statistics is required in the
Department of Public Health Sciences for two years.
In addition to general academic activities, the lecturer
will have two specific roles. First, the lecturer will
support research and development in University Hospital
Lewisham in a joint venture between St George's Hospital
Medical School (SGHMS) and Lewisham NHS Trust. The post
will be based at SGHMS but the lecturer will spend a
proportion of their time at Lewisham Hospital setting up
and running a statistical support service to researchers on
site. Second, the lecturer will collaborate in a new
programme of research into risk factors for asthma and
other allergic diseases at SGHMS. This research will use
the General Practice Research Database (GPRD) and be funded
by GlaxoWellcome Epidemiology. All the lecturer's work will
be carried out in collaboration with other medical and
statistical colleagues at SGHMS.
The successful applicant will have a postgraduate
qualification in statistics and have several years'
experience as a medical statistician. He/she will be
innovative, be able to work independently and to
communicate easily with statistical and medical colleagues.
