At Hull, we have recently drafted assessment criteria
(based on what already happens in some departments) which
describe the attributes to expect from each 10-mark band
(across the whole 100-0 range). These descriptions are
inevitably couched in rather general, non-subject-specific
terms. Departments have been asked to comment on them.
The outcome may result in it not being possible to have
meaningful descriptions but at least the exercise we hope
will have raised the awareness of the problem.
I would be interested to hear what other people have to say.
