I've forwarded this to the admin-stdent list as being of more direct
relevance. However Martin might want to have a look at the
Mailbase archives for admin-student (at:
http://www.mailbase.ac.uk/lists/admin-student/archive.html
which will have pretty frequent reference to this topic.
Incidentally, would anyone care to make a digest of the most recent
traffic on this subject and we could then post it as a file for download
since it is so regular. Any volunteers?
Regards

I would like to canvass colleagues for insights on how their
institutions manage their degree ceremonies.
In particular, I am interested to hear about:
* what type of arrangements exist for the hire and distribution
of academic robes to graduates;
AND,
* any institution that uses a civic venue not owned by itself,
AND "contracts out" the management of their ceremony venue (eg.
registration, graduate & guest seating and similar activities are all
staffed by the venue, with a minimum of staff provided by the
university). Are there any out there that do this? If so how do such
arrangements work? What are the costs/benefits to your institution?
Many thanks,
Martin Shepherd
