I wrote a wee 'spiel' as a cover note, which said that "The
University of Aberdeen, founded in 1495 ... awards its own
degrees": no come-back, so I seem to have got away with
that. The alternative was to go to our archivist and get a
copy of the Privy Council (or whatever) document - although
I did send a photocopy of the relevant pages of the
Universities (Scotland) Act, 1858 - doesn't *grant*
degree-awarding powers, simply confirms they already exist .
I see that I also answered Q49 by enclosing a copy of the
GMC's *Notes on Registration*, which list those
universities which award medical degrees recognised by the
GMC.
Good luck - a monstrous undertaking (morally and
physically).
