Can anyone offer advice as to how to handle Chinese names in catalogue
records? If AACR2 has anything to say, I have been unable to find it.
I had thought that names filed under the first element (Mao Zedong, Zhou
Enlai, and so on), but I keep finding MARC records where the second element is
the filing element. Should Mao Zedong be treated as "Mao Zedong", "Mao,
Zedong", or "Zedong, Mao"?
Conscious of what I would feel if I was catalogued as "Keith, Nockels", I seek
advice!
Please reply to me directly, and I will summarise for the list.
Many thanks in advance,
Keith Nockels
