SHORT-TERM RESEARCH POST IN APPLIED SPATIAL STATISTICS
STRATEGIES TO SAMPLE SOIL FOR POTATO CYST NEMATODES
Applications are invited for this MAFF-funded short-term research post in a
collaborative project between Harper Adams College (Dr P. P. J. Haydock) and
IACR Rothamsted (Profs. Joe Perry & Ken Evans); the appointee will be based at
Rothamsted.
The project will involve spatial analysis of data in the form of counts at
specified locations in two dimensions, the assessment of interpolative
techniques for estimation of patchy nematode populations, developing and
testing sampling strategies, and the stochastic computer modelling of potato
cyst nematode populations. Further details are available upon request (see
below).
The salary will be stlg (#) 16K and the duration of the post is 1.5 years
Candidates should possess (or expect to receive) at least a 2.1 in Biometry or
Statistics/Applied Statistics (with biological knowledge), and preferably an
MSC or PhD in statistics. Experience of data analysis will be an advantage.
