Hello folks
This is shameless promotion, but I thought people might be interested in
the recently published special issue of the _New Zealand Geographer_
entitled (Re)Formations: Cultural Geographies of Aotearoa/New Zealand.
The issue is devoted especially to critical approaches in cultural
geography, and it canvasses four broad themes: decolonizing social
research, geographies of 'race' and racism, embodied geographies, and
cultural politics of consumption.
Here is the table of contents:
"Constructing Cultural Geographies of Aotearoa", L.D. Berg and R.A. Kearns
"Constructing (bi)cultural geographies: Research on, and with, people of
the Hokianga district", R.A. Kearns
"Responsible geographies: Co-creating knowledge in Aotearoa", R. McClean,
L.D. Berg, and M.M. Roche
"Branding Strategies and Languages of consumption", E. Pawson
"Masculinity, place, and beer advertising in New Zealand: The Southern
Man campaign", R. Law
Queen(s') Street or Ponsonby Poofters? Embodied HERO Parade sites" Lynda

"'Going Nuts': Representing pregnant women", R. Longhurst
"Stereotypical constructions of the Maori 'race' in the media" M. Wall
"Refashioning racism: Immigration, multiculturalism and an election
year", P. Spoonley and L.D. Berg
"Protest, police and place: The 1981 Springbok tour and the production
