The Committee of the Aslib Electronics Group is looking to recruit
information workers who are able to get involved with the activities of the
Group.
Formed 40 years ago, the Group aims to bring together information officers
and librarians working not only in the electronics field but also in the
many related areas which rely on electronics - computing, multimedia,
information technology, defence, aerospace, telecommunications, advanced
manufacturing, etc.
The Group's membership covers the whole spectrum of the information world:
organisations and individuals from industry, public authorities,
universities, government departments and research centres, and professional
and other national institutions.
The Group offers its members a range of services, including visits and
courses. However, its main event is the annual conference, held this year
jointly for the first time with the Aslib Multimedia Group. The conference
has a national reputation for the topicality and quality of its speakers and
papers and provides an excellent opportunity to establish contact with other
information professionals.
The Group holds about ten Committee meetings a year and half of these are
conducted as teleconferences. Membership of the Committee does not entail
having to be an office holder, but does require commitment to be actively
involved in sharing the workload of the Committee. This is often a rewarding
effort which has the added bonus of being accepted as valid in terms of
chartered status and continuous professional development.
If you would like to get involved or discuss what is entailed please contact
the Group Honorary Secretary:-
