This sounds like a great idea. Some of the work that Ron Daniel, CNRI
and my group has been doing regarding interfaces to digital objects is
right up this alley. I'd like to share and hear other peoples thinking
on this issue.

Subject: Resource Types and Interoperability
Stu,
At a system level, resource types are fundamental to
interoperability among
digital libary systems. MIME types have done a wonderful job,
but library
information needs richer forms of typing. I would be interested
in hearing
from people who are actually building systems that use resource
types to
interoperate, but should we do this outside the meta2 list?
