PROFESSOR. Tenure track position beginning August, 1998; Ph.D. required
at time of appointment. The Department of Geography seeks a geographer
with a specialization in the applications and theory of Geographic
Information Systems (GIS). The successful candidate must have a strong
commitment to research, graduate and undergraduate teaching, and
securing extramural funding. She/he will be expected to collaborate with
colleagues across disciplinary boundaries and connect with departmental
research strengths in human and environmental geography, though all
research specializations will be considered. The department's laboratory
for Cartography and Geographic Information includes research and
teaching facilities for cartography, GIS, environmental imaging, and
spatial data analysis, and the successful applicant would be expected to
play a key role in its continued development. Send C.V., names and
