Here are some urls that might be helpful:

(a general account)

(Andy Walker's useful list of links from Leeds)

(not England, but a directory from the Finns - world leaders in the field!)

(PictureTel's site - brand leaders on the equipment front)
My own short experience of videoconferencing (using ISDN2) suggests
that a combination of face to face contact and shared software
applications (such as a Library catalogue or database) gives a
powerful means for doing context specific user support/education. I
would avoid systems that didn't allow shared applications, and also
fight shy of systems that did not have good sound quality. (effective
echo cancellation and hands free operation are essential IMHO).
