E-LIB
THE ELECTRONIC LIBRARIES PROGRAMME:
its contribution to information research
Libtech International `97
University of Hertfordshire
10th. September 1997
15m (pounds) has been invested in the Electronic Libraries
Programme by the UK higher education funding councils.
This seminar to be held in Hatfield will:
* provide an overview of the evaluation of the e-lib
programme
* consider how the benefits of the e-lib programme to
information users and practitioners can be assessed
* look at how the contribution of the e-lib programme
to information research can be measured
The seminar is concerned with the impact of the e-lib
programme and how the long term effects of the programme
and the individual projects can be measured. It will consider
the growing impact of the digital library on information
users on practitioners and will assess the role of the e-
lib programme in furthering the development of the
digital library. The seminar will also look at the
relationship between the e-lib programme and relevant
information research being conducted in the UK and
elsewhere. An assessment will be made of the
transferability of the approaches and methodologies
being adopted by e-lib to library and information
research and innovation.
The seminar will be of interest to those who work in
higher education institutions and anyone interested in
research into digital libraries and electronic
information .
