Rather than a numeric limit for TYPEs (or anything else, for that
matter), I propose an operational rule of thumb for selection of
options for any element:
The Law of Instructional Parsimony:
If you cannot make clear the selection options for a given element
on a single browser page, then it is too complex for straightforward
deployment.
Further elaboration should be driven into domain- or
application-specific schemes. Yes, there is vagueness and wiggle-room
here. Vagueness is virtue.
