you can access LCSH online via LOCIS, LC's original retrieval
system that runs on a mainframe computer. LOCIS provides access to most of
the catalog files that are created and maintained by the Library and
provides access to a variety of other files, including LCSH. LOCIS
provides a wide variety of search features and is a command-driven
system.
You can telnet direct to the following address: locis.loc.gov.
OR you can start up a telnet session via the following LC Web pages
:
http://lcweb.loc.gov/homepage/online.html
http://lcweb.loc.gov/catalog/
Don't believe the blurb they give about the range of catalogues that you
can search. For example, it says you can search "thesauri of Names and
subjects" when in fact only LCSH is available.
