We here at Internet Scout have been following the theory and the
application of the Dublin Core meta-data fields. We would like to join in
your Task Force discussion of Dublin Core Resource Types.
To provide a brief background, the two of us are working on the Scout
Report Signpost (http://www.signpost.org/signpost/index.html), a catalog of
Internet resources based on the content of the Scout Report
(http://scout.cs.wisc.edu/scout/report/index.html). We are using an
applicable subset of the Dublin Core schema to creat data fields for the
Scout Report Signpost catalog and are assigning LC Subject Headings and
Classes to the resources.
At out site there is a complete list of the Resource Types, which are
called "Object Types" in our catalog, Signpost. You can see the list on
the Advanced Search page (pop-up menu)
(http://www.signpost.org/signpost/search/index.html) and in the Help!
section (http://www.signpost.org/signpost/help.html#3B).
We have been in contact with Michael Mealing concerning the implementation
of the DC with Signpost but look forward to more discussion on this topic.
