Time out for a process point:
My endorsement of Roy's proposal to form a group to hone RESOURCE TYPE
was not intended to deny anyone a voice in the matter. I don't see any
conflict in the positions espoused by Roy, myself, or Jordan. I've
said many times that the emergent wisdom of the group is one of the
formost assets of the DC effort.
It helps to formalize our directions in proposals that we can work on
as a group. That's what I'd like to see happen, and the vigorous
debate around this topic seems to be doing just that.
Just to endorse a point made by someone else (Jon?), the discussion
should take place here on the list. When we've split into
non-list-based groups, things haven't worked as well.

On the other hand, there's nothing like the procreative anarchy of public
opinion! I think one of the things that makes this list productive and
exciting/interesting is the idea that your ideas may eventually become
integrated into something (maybe... [probably not :-7]).
I had the feeling that this list was to remain a "bouncing off" area, so to
speak, where ideas could continue to be shared and critiqued even though
the smaller group would submit the final proposal. If I got this wrong,
let me know.
