Publishers are not required to provide deposit copies to BLDSC for
ILL purposes as far as I know.
Copyright deposit copies went to Oxford University, Cambridge
University, NLWales, NLScotland etc and to the British Library in
London, not Boston Spa.
Some BL London material may be available through ILL/BLDSC but you
will not find Oxford or Cambridge lending deposit copies to all-
comers on ILL I think.
'Deposit copies serve other needs as well. I don't think publishers would
'agree that a desirable purpose of deposit copies was to eliminate sales by
'making access to the book freely available to all via an ILL system
'regarless of the purposed of the library making the request.
