Sheffield ChemDex is not an eLib project, but does its development noted here
have any lessons for exit strategies?

Chemdexplus is coming!
Important news for the Sheffield Chemdex
Important aims for the future of the Sheffield Chemdex are to increase the size
of the Chemdex database, to add
searching, and to provide critical site reviews for a significant proportion of
the included sites. Given that I already
have a time-consuming job to do, all this can really only happen with proper
commercial backing. I am happy to
report that negotiations are well advanced with a view to enhancing the
Sheffield Chemdex in this major way via a
licensing arrangement. It is my belief that this injection of resources into
the Sheffield Chemdex is important for the
Chemistry community. I should like to stress that the Sheffield Chemdex will
always be here and further that access
to Chemdexplus will also be free, although you will need a password. A position
is now available (details below) for
an enthusiastic chemist who will help with Chemdexplus. Please note that if you
are interested in this position, the
contact is not me. Watch this space for further news and keep your fingers
crossed!.
