Interesting discussion this.
For my part, it's not a matter of should or shouldn't - I think most of us
will agree that it is unfair to copy someone else's work without
acknowledgement and or payment
BUT I think it's also unreasonable to state that something which IS
published can't be looked at (using a legimate means such as the view
source/frame option in Netscape). OK if there is a way of preventing the
HTML being viewed, then that's one thing. If it CAN be viewed, however -
then its unreasonable to say it MUST NOT be!
It seems rather like telling a purchaser of a book that s/he may read the
text, but may not inspect the binding (heaven knows why anyone would want to
inspect the binding!)
On the idea that reading code is going to stop sales of books - well on that
basis we can say goodbye to libraries!

A strange copyright statment at the URL
http://clans.cla.co.uk/www/auths.html
has been brought to my attention.
It states that readers are not authorised to:
(a) Alter the material in any way.
(b) View or print the HTML source code.
Statement (b) sounds very odd. I'd have thought no more about it, but it
comes from The Copyright Licensing Agency Ltd - an organisation which
sounds like it should know about copyright law.
Any comments?
Thanks
Brian
