In my opinion, JISC and the eLib programme have done a great amount to try
to meld both exciting technical development with trying to resolve the
practical issues. There are a number of projects that are actively dealing
with copyright of digitised resources and the Higher Education Digitisation
Centre is specifically involved in researching copyright issues for our
customers.
A project that has used an intermediary (Swets subscription agent) for
copyright clearance is Project Acorn and their site is worth a visit at:
http://acorn.lboro.ac.uk/
Their project has a similar scope to the problems your MBA programme is
facing.
At the recent UK Serials Group Conference Mark Bide gave some information
regarding the work that JISC has done with publishers to reach some level
of agreement about the copyright for digitised materials. There will be a
report very soon, but Mark or Chris may wish to comment to this group.
Regards,
Simon
