Well (in my very best Mystic Meg voice :-) ) I foresee the need to have
both for some time to come. I foresee some search engines picking up the
DC syntax quickly whereas others will drag their feet. Seeing as your
metadata is being generated by tools and the overhead of a couple of extra
lines of HTML is nothing compare to the size and number of GIFs that your
average web page contains, I'd say generate both for sometime to come. Be
conservative in what you generate and liberal in what you accept comes
into play again!
