>Ireland) are organizing a WPM-IGU meeting in Maynooth and Belfast between
>August 16-23, 1998. The theme is "NATIONALISMS AND IDENTITIES IN
>A GLOBALIZED WORLD". The meeting will convene Sunday August 16 to
>Friday August 21 in Maynooth (15 miles West of Dublin). Friday night and all
>day Saturday will be in Belfast and return to Dublin Sunday morning
>August 23rd and disband.

>This cross-border meeting will have paper sessions in Belfast on Friday
>night and Saturday night, with a field trip in the Belfast area on
>Saturday as well as a border area visit Friday on the way to Belfast from
>Maynooth. If local political tensions are high, the planned field trips
>may be routed or cancelled. The cross-border meeting will thus allow an
>exploration of the different Irish nationalisms. We plan a session with
>representatives of the various Northern Irish factions on Saturday night.

>CONFERENCE PLAN: An opening session on Irish nationalisms with the
