Netskills "The Internet for HE Teaching" workshop:

The Internet is becoming increasingly important in higher education.
It is now an essential medium for accessing, delivering and exchanging
information. Resources are now available that provide a number of
opportunities for teaching and learning in HE, for example:
collaborative tools; question and answer mechanisms; easily accessible
teaching programs and distance learning modules.
Netskills will be running a workshop on using the Internet for HE
Teaching on Thursday 3rd April 1997 from 9.30 a.m. until 4.45 p.m. at
Newcastle University.
The workshop will comprise presentations, demonstrations and hands-on
sessions with opportunities for discussion. Participants will receive
a workbook which will contain workshop exercises, presentation slides
and other printed materials.
Topics covered will include:
* searching for information
* subject gateways on the WWW
* electronic journals
* distance learning
* email, discussion lists
* newsgroups
* online tutorial courses
* videoconferencing
* HTML authoring techniques
The cost of the workshop will be 45 pounds, this includes lunch,
tea/coffee and all workshop materials.
