Netskills Workshop
An Introduction to Authoring on the World Wide Web
1.00pm Tuesday 25th March - 2.00pm Wednesday 26th March 1997
At the University of Newcastle, Training Suite.
This is a practical workshop for those who are users of the World Wide
Web and wish to start creating their own Web pages. It is suitable for
researchers and academics from any discipline, university
administrators, librarians and computing service staff.
The workshop will comprise presentations, demonstrations and
hands-on sessions with opportunities for discussion. Participants
will receive a workbook which contains workshop exercises,
presentation slides and other relevant materials.
Topics covered will include:
beginner's guide to HTML
creation of World Wide Web pages
use of graphics on Web pages
production of active maps
use of HTML authoring packages
validation of HTML documents
conversion tools for existing documents
design and maintenance of Web pages
World Wide Web Futures
On the Tuesday evening, there will be informal presentations and/or
demonstrations after dinner.
Workshop Requirements
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
Participants need no special technical skills; however, for the
hands-on sessions they will find it helpful to have had some
experience of using a PC and the Microsoft Windows environment.
The cost of the workshop is 80 pounds for participants from Higher
Education and 160 pounds for other participants (Netskills is funded
by the Higher Education Funding Councils) Note: Costs include lunch,
evening meal, morning coffee and afternoon tea, plus all workshop
materials.
