I'd like to encourage subscribers to the italian-studies mailbase to
submit articles to the journal 'Italian Studies'. This is published
annually by the Society for Italian Studies, based in the British
Isles, but it is open to scholars worldwide.
We welcome submissions on all areas of Italian studies, including
literature, theatre, film, language, history, art, architecture, and
cultural studies. Some of these interests are covered in the contents
of volume 52 (1997), which will be as follows:
P. Armour (London): The twelve ambassadors and Ugolino's jubilee
inscription: Dante's Florence and the Tartars in 1300; R. Wilson (St
Andrews): Prophecy by the dead in Dante and Lucan; N. R. Havely
(York): The blood of the Apostles: Dante, the Franciscans and Pope
John XXII; S. Gilson (Yokohama): Dante's meteorological optics:
refraction, reflection and the rainbow; M. A. Katritzky (London): A
German description of the Florentine intermedi of 1565; M. Orsino
(Toulouse): Il fuoco nella 'Vita' di Benvenuto Cellini: aspetti di un
mito dell'artista-fabbro; A. Pagliaro (Melbourne): 'Il marchese di
Roccaverdina' di Luigi Capuana: crisi etica o analisi positivistica?;
D. Duncan (Bristol): Choice objects: the bodies of Gabriele
D'Annunzio; P. Puppa (Venice): Natalia Ginzburg: una lingua per il
teatro; A. Malaguti (Boston): Il passato che persiste: tempo e tempi
verbali ne 'I Bu' di Tonino Guerra; R. Gordon (Oxford): Recent work on
Pasolini in English (review article)
There is no set deadline for submissions, but the earlier in a year
that an article is submitted, the more chance it has of appearing in
the following year.
Typescripts (two copies) should be sent to me at the following
address; if you wish, I can send a stylesheet either by email or by
post.
