Issue 2 of the electronic journal *Internet Archaeology*
(http://intarch.ac.uk) has now been opened. The first paper to be mounted
on the web is:
The need for the solid modelling of structure in the archaeology of
buildings, by Robert Daniels of the University of Reading, UK
other papers to follow in the next few days include:
Iron age and Roman copper alloys from Northern Britain by David
Dungworth, which includes a database of examples and images
The chaine operatoire approach to lithic analysis by Roger Grace, which
compares Norwegian and English sites
Enhancing the record through remote sensing: the application and
integration of multi sensor, non-invasive remote sensing
techniques for the enhancement of the Sites and Monuments Record,
Heslerton Parish Project, North Yorkshire, England, by Dominic Powlesland,
James Lyall, & Daniel Donoghue.
Please write to the list and tell us what you think. For example, do
people like having the images with in the text? This may take longer to
load, but at least the pics are close to the text. With Issue 1's Peacey
(Clay Pipes) paper, we chose to take the pics out and linked to them via a
separate wrapper. The caption was in the body of the text so the reader
could then choose whether to follow the link. What do you think?
Besides the opening of Issue 2, please note that we have put our first
annual report on the website at http://intarch.ac.uk/news/ap1.html. This
brings together the project's events over the last year, and gives insights
into the running of an electronic journal.
All the best,
Sandra
