>On the SGML / HTML side there is a lot of work going on. There is a W3C
>draft document on XML (Extended Markup Language) which is a lightweight
>form of SGML designed for the Internet (see
>http://www.w3.org/pub/WWW/TR/WD-xml-961114.html).
For the record, the "official" XML developers list is at our site
http://www.lists.ic.ac.uk/hypermail/xml-dev/
and the CML ( chemical markup language, a project associated
with CLIC, and described by Jon Bosak as
a paradigmic example of XML) will apparently be a star of the
show at WWW6.
Also for the record, an implementation of the CML dtd
in Java, together with a host of examples, has been pressed on the
CLIC ECHET96 CD, which has now been duplicated, and will
be circulated around the chemical community very shortly.
Anyone wishing to get more details of how CML was created and
implemented, please contact Peter Murray-Rust at

but please use this sparingly, since Peter is horrendously
overworked nowadays.
