While reading Pierre Roissy's _Manuale_, I came across this sentence under
the rubric "De gradibus et interiori ornatu ecclesie":
"Verritur pavimentum ecclesie ut tele aranearum et alie immundicie in festis
maioribus eiciantur ad notandum quod tunc forcius debemus nos mandare per
confessionem."
Can anyone direct me to a secondary source that discusses spiders and their
webs? I'd like to see if they could have indicated a particular type of dirt
or disorder.
