Fenoglio, too, has some pretty close-to-the-bone things to say about
southerners (and about Fiorello LaGuardia's way of speaking Italian
on the radio) in his partisan novels. Phil Cooke
at Strathclyde knows Fenoglio backwards, and could doubtless supply
the refs.>
