Hi,
I'm involved in a pan-European project
for cooperative indexing of physics related
resources.
For physics we have at least five different
classification schemes to choose from
but we aren't really that happy with any
of them, so we might have to come up
with something better.
At least we will have to optimize one
of the old ones since most of them
mix up the subject classification scheme
(SUBJECT) with the resource type (TYPE).
Could perhaps someone point me to a
web site, mailing list, article, etc
where features of classification schemes
to be used on the Internet are discussed?
Of interest is also the possibility to
use distributed taxonomies or "meta structures"
to be used for distributed navigation.
Btw, how well accepted is the list of
object types (TYPE) that's been proposed
by the ROADS group?
Thanx,
Kenneth
