A top spin on literary competitions
AUSTRALIAN SPORTS POET AWARD
Network Tennis Australia is proud to sponsor the Australian Sports Poet
award. In the year of the Olympic Summer Games it is known as the Olympic
Sports Poet Award. This unique award has been created to celebrate and
symbolise the powerful and exhilarating synergy that exists between sport
and poet. Entries are now being invited for the:
Australian Sports Poet - 1997
Prize allocation is:
Australian Sports Poet (open)
1st prize $400 (value)
2nd prize $200 (value)
3rd prize $100 (value)
Australian Sports Poet (youth)
1st prize $100 (value)
2nd prize $50 (value)
3rd prize $25 (value)
Additional Sponsorship Prizes to be announced at the presentation.
The competition closes on 12 December 1997. Late entries shall not be
accepted. Entries can be submitted in paper or electronically:

Conditions
Theme of the poems entered must be sport.
Entries are to be written in English.
Australian Sports Poet is for Australian citizens
Youth section is for youth 13 years or under at the closing date (12
December 1997).
Youth entries are to be clearly identified and the date of birth supplied.
Poems must be unpublished and not under consideration to any publisher
Entries shall be judged by leading poets Les Wicks and Chris Mansell.
The judges' decision will be final and no correspondence shall be entered into.
NTA shall make changes to the judging panel in the event of a judge being
unavailable
The winners shall be announced in early 1998 and published in the Poets
Union Inc magazine 'Five Bells soon after.
Entries requiring manuscripts to be returned should enclose a stamped self
addressed envelope. Overseas entrants should enclose two International
Reply
Coupons. NTA shall not be responsible for any loss or damage to entries.
Network Tennis Australia reserves the right to reproduce the winning poems
and selected others in publications, marketing activities etc. Winners are
to be available for up to five NTA nominated events for poetry readings and
promotions.
