In response to Robert's earlier mailing (hope I don't get interrupted!)
my paper at the colloq. was intended as an introduction to recent
expereimental prose poetry by women, and a necessarily selective one at
that. I had hoped that the discussion would be longer, but time was
short in this very full but very interesting day. I've attached a copy
of the paper, I think, but I may have the same problem with attachments
as Robert does.
Bill Sherman in his intervention following my paper was drawing
attention to one history of parataxis, the Olsonian one, as opposed to
more recent use of the term in Language writing. I was trying to draw
attention to another story - that of parataxis in women's prose poetry.
Like any linguistic term it should be viewed in context.
