- 'twas ever thus. But before we demonise Chadwyck Healey, let's be clear:
they haven't used a single text without acquiring the rights. I can't say
how it was with Jo Shapcott, but with Bunting, the Estate was approached
by OUP in advance of the deal regarding the launch of an e-version, but
this does not effect in any way the printed rights, and permissions are
still dealt with as before.

- yes, the momentum (and, from the librarian's point of view, the cost) is
fearful, as in staggering. Can anyone see momentum or cost going down? I
think not. And we should be very clear that this is *one of a number* of
electronic text initiatives. And yes, alternative / different resources
could / should be devised - but I'm also keen to see that the poetries I'm
interested in are not unrepresented by CH.

- in the same way that they link to other resources at present, i.e. link
to britpo home page, same as you can get from my sig. below. No automoatic
subscriptions to anything. This is an *information* resource only.

- well, I know what RB meant, and I seen it frequently in my colleagues
("that Barthes - I had one of his in my backlog the other day"). But I
honestly can't connect it to the practice of making a web link. Many
paranoias I have, this one I'll have to work on...
