Dear British Poets,
Checking in from San Francisco,
I have a small business Words on Wheels,
we are a distribution company for poetry,
and spoken word recordings. I started the
company to build an independent network
to sell and promote poetry.
If any of you have recordings of your work,
please send to Gary Mex Glazner c/o Words on Wheels
85 Stanyan St. San Francisco CA 94118
If selected for our catalogue we have quite
favorable terms for Poets, and poetry friendly
recording companies. Our Web sight is
Headless Buddha.
I have quite enjoyed the
discussion on the "marketing of poetry."
For the last 15 or so years, I have been producing,
poetry events. Working with poets from
around the states we have been able to
create a network of readings in approx. 40
cities, enabling poets to set up tours.
Poet Beth Lisick from San Francisco
is now on a 6 week tour doing 30 readings,
plus radio shows in some of the areas.
Her book is selling quite well, 100 copies
in her first 5 readings. She is receiving
between pass the hat and 100 dollars per
reading.
I consider my work as a poet
no different from a plumber
or any other trade. It is my
humble opinion that most of our
problems as poets comes from
seeing ours selves as out side
of society at large. I look forward
to hearing from you.
yours,
Gary Mex Glazner
