Well I make a point of resisting statements which use "there is no
alternative"... n buy the time you've placed words like / text / language
/ everything / you have something which is, to me, bland enuff for new
labour. My guess wd be:
There are some
alternative
texts
and most
are
language
But will the voters go for it? What does it do for the linguistic pound in
their marginal pockets? Crucially, since in the end it comes down to
plurality vs authority AGAIN, and we know that the author(itarian)s are
all lying bastards when the pollsters are around, how shall we continue to
practis/c/e openly in the face of them?
There's a Reger festival of some kind going on at present - Reger was the
one who said that only the musically illiterate need to *hear* music -
when we've all developed our score-reading skills we can stay in our
studies and realise it in silence.
I hope I never get to that stage.
