Writing as a Londoner who moved beyond Bow Bells
I was encouraged to do so by this medium partly.
That sense, which i still have, of being as 'in touch'
with those whom i'm 'close' to (worldwide), as was any case
before.
Which leads to suggestion, that what defined (notice the
past) a city, what negotiated its definition (as the desirable)
was proximity to social technologies and to
commercial, informational hubs of distribution and
dissemination. I'm as engaged with such in Lowestoft as I
ever was in Enfield, West Hamstead, Chelsea, Hackney or
Canning Town.
Cities are often heritage centres, romanticized residues
of the follies of modernity.
Of course i love 'em too.
