There will be a
National (sic) SMALL PRESS FAIR
Saturday June 28th 1997
10:00 am to 5:30 pm
Waterloo Foyer, Royal Festival Hall,
South Bank Centre, London, UK
(For those who know the South Bank, this is on street level, down the
stairs to the east of the central bar. It can be entered at the street
level, through the doors opposite the Queen Elizabeth Hall/Hayward Gallery.)
Reality Street Editions and WellSweep will be sharing a table. Please come
and visit us and *buy our books*. (The new Brossard will be on sale!)
Will others on this list be attending as exhibitors also? Let us know?
These fairs used to be regular annual events organized by the Small Press
Group. This group I believe is now either defunct or in abeyance, but there
is still a (National) Small Press Centre and this is run by the same cadre.
A new Small Press Yearbook (lots of useful info) will be published at the
Fair, costing 12 british pounds.
Former Small Press Fairs were fun -- noisy, eclectic, mad, wide-ranging --
everything from fine printing to kinky erotica, via various bizarre forms
of socio/political/economic perversion, and the usual scattering of the
hopelessly, marginally worthy or holy or whatever. A lot of non-poetry
(thankfully?). I hope the Saturday event will have something of the old
energy. Anyway, it'll be worth it for 'us,' Atlas Press, Morning Star,
Invisible Books and ALP, assuming they all turn up as they used to.... and,
as always, for the unexpected, for 'what comes back'....
till Saturday then,
