Peter, thanks for more thoughts on Bonnefoy. I don't know his work, but
would ask: what is a "generic word"? Do you mean some kind of diachronous
collation of vocabulary? And - I thought Gillian Rose didn't mean
'attention' as such (her ideal viewer(/reader) wouldn't, I think,
'attend'), but rather pointed out the ability of non-fascistic
representions to expose and to discomfit attentiveness, causing a kind of
-distraction- (a distraction -to- what is important)? Though this in turn
becomes an order of attention, I think it must always entail dis-attention
also.
