Interesting if recent diversions can open up some thoughts on French
poetry. YB can be seen as the last "classical" French poet etc, but
is he really so essentialist? I havn't read him in a long while, but
I seem to remember that something like Anti-Platon, though certainly
turning away from any surreal linguistic hedonism aims to move to
something much more like a charged frugality of language while
clearly wanting to head off any retreat into essentialism. But this
is just memory...
