. I managed to leave half of what I wanted to say out yesterday , I also
wanted to comment on scrolling, which Fiona mentioned earlier and it does
seem to be an important difference. I sometimes feel disorientated reading
on screen, a sense of dislocation..I also find the question of typeface
interesting. I like the variety of typefaces I find in books and often
remember lines with the associated script. My mail program unifies
everything under one typeface. Reminds me of Auden's handwriting and farts
quote,... does work sent by mail lose something.... is this just me? Am I
rambling?
As regards portability, it does seem at present to be important, although
perhaps only in terms of slim volumes,(?) my pockets are not big enough for
anything else! But I wonder about the original comment: screen as image. I
believe he (baudrillard) said he has nothing to do with computers. Is his
his comment just a product of ignorance of the medium, or do any of you,
using word processors daily, feel the same way? Are not a lot of poems in
part image as well?
