Given that context is everything, and accessibility the key to the
acceptance and "appropriateness" of a canon, the email list seems on the
surface an interesting project. However, email is NOT the universal tool
it is cracked up to be, it is exclusive and largely academic/workplace
grounded, at least at this stage. Would it not be a more "authentic"
process simply to introduce poems, randomly, for reaction, without an
intent to preserve, to qualify the validity of the act in an historical
framework? The immediacy is what makes this form of communication
interesting for me - it is the ephemerality that appeals. I should title
this posting "the need for quotation marks" or the "necessity of
canonical activity"!
