Hi.
I had a meeting with Patricia Oxley, Acumen magazine the other day, and she
is trying to find someone to write [my words, not hers] <a beginners guide
to LANGUAGE poetry> for her magazine. If there's anyone out there willing
to do a straightforward, plainspeaking article about why they like it, what
it is, and how language works in this way, Im sure she'd be grateful. It
does seem to me an opportunity not to be missed, I believe Chris and others
are right in thinking that the poetic climate is changing and people are
having to take note of contemporary poetry outside the considered
mainstream!
On a similar note I have taken on the role of Reviews Editor at Orbis
magazine, with an open brief as to what I review. I obviously can't merely
ignore the mainstram books they receive, but I am hoping to extend their
coverage of the sorts of poetry that interest the likes of this group. So
send review copies in - and let me know if anyone wants to do some short,
snappy reviews. They do have 700+ readers: again, I think an opportunity,
whatever one thinks of some of the poetry in the magazine itself. If we
can show/share-with readers a passion for new writing we may help writers
and readers understand that poetry is more than inspiration and contntŠ
Ken, I like the sound of your cat. An anthology of Contmporary feline
Poetics anyone?
