I think the marketing question (however dirty the word may be) is as
important as other questions relating to the performance itself, the
presentation of and expectations created about the event as important as
the presentation of the work within the reading itself. A performance needs
an audience. Not necessarily a big one. Some write for audiences of one. At
times, though by no means always, it seems to me that what goes on in and
around this list is strictly for initiates only, and at these times
marketing is clearly irrelevant.
And I am unceasingly captivated by my navel.
