In HTML there is a <PRE> command (terminated by </PRE>) which allows
equal spacing to each character (I think that is monotype). If that is
not used then characters have varying width which causes the problems
for you. I think that using <PRE> we could set up a poem for the
magazine, terminate it by </PRE>, then add your notes in variable
format, which is easier on the eye for readers.
I am a very primitive user of HTML. I only have access to the `lynx'
browser which you will probably also have at UEA. But I cant use
Netscape or Explorer to check your text. `lynx' is monotype so I
dont get variable character widths, which I cant check for you.
I will send a copy of this message to `britpo' so Lawrence can read it.
I have neglected to set up an abbreviation for him in my .aliases file.
You really want to explore variable character width in HTML but that
is outside my scope.
