Merits of Raworth and Prynne aside I wonder if this might not be a bad
opportnity to remind those American based listees that poet Alan
Halsey will be in Buffalo in Oct, probably 16-20, and is very willing
to visit other spots whilst this side.
I do think this is an opportunity to see and hear the work of a
British poet of a generation following Prynne. I am glad the students
at Buffalo will get to read his latest A Robin Hood Book--I recall his
reading of it at last year's CCCP getting a mediocre review on the
Buffalo list, which may have been a fair representation of that
reading, but as the single most circulated review for a very
interesting poet over here, and for a very interesting book, it does
seem unfortunate.Other reviews I received personally disagreed
vehemently.
Dodie Bellamy has mentioned interest in contributing to getting him
over to the west coast, and Denver and Salt Lake may yet loose a
little cash for the same, but I do think it would be a shame not to
take advantage of his presence. Anyone unfamiliar with his work can
find some, along with an interview, in the latest Colorado Review. As
Pierre mention in regard to Tom Raworth, he, and his American
readership, had the advantage of Tom's presence. I will be happy to
receive any inquiries or suggestions of possible sources.
