- yup. Less rain in last 2-3 years than in any other period on record.
Also the unfixed pipes (unfixed for years before the sell-off of the water
industry, to run down costs & therefore improve appearance of
profitability) are leaking, in some regions as much as a third. On the
other hand, the NorthEast, which had radically increased its water storage
potential to need the needs of an expanding industry which then
contracted, is in a position to "export" - by tanker - water to the
aquatically-challenged Yorkshire region. Puts a new twist on "Fancy a
pint?" doesn't it...
