"The general niminy-piminy nature of the UK press is noted,"
(said Ric) - this is AMAZINGLY SPOOKY. This very afternoon, doing a day
shift subbing at Building Design magazine, I had recourse to Collins
Dictionary to check the spelling of "minuscule", and chanced upon this
definition:
"miminy-piminy: an alternative spelling of "niminy-piminy"
This so cracked me up (I'd never heard either expression) I pointed it out
to a couple of others on the desk. Then I came home, switched on the
computer, & found Ric's posting....
But speaking of Ginsberg....
Back in Oct 95 I posted a report of that Albert Hall poetry gig to the
Buffalo Poetics list. It included the following:
"Comes on to great acclaim. I find his first poem incredibly moving in its
wry, humorous acceptance of death and dissolution ("What a mess I am, Allen
Ginsberg"; "Allen Ginsberg warns you: don't follow my path to extinction").
As I've posted elsewhere, his humanity and honesty are sadly missed,
particularly in the midst of this disgusting election campaign.
