LECTURESHIP IN SOCIAL ANTHROPOLOGY AND ETHNOMUSICOLOGY

This post is tenable from 1 January 1998, or such other date as may be
agreed, to publish research and to carry out teaching and administration as
directed by the Head of Department, under the Director of the School. In
particular, the lecturer will share in delivering the ethnomusicology
programme (currently undergraduate teaching to major Honours, MA and PhD)
both academically and administratively. Social Anthropology is a '4' rated
department and we look for excellent publication potential and lively
teaching ability.
Applicants must have or be about to obtain a PhD or equivalent in
ethnomusicology, music or anthropology. Experience of fieldwork is
essential.
Two years' teaching experience at university level, committee work at
departmental level and relevant publications in high quality journals
according to experience are desirable. The ability to read music and
musical experience outside the realm of Western art music are also
desirable.
