I had over 3000 readings of my poems on the WEb last month, which
is not exceptional. But the problem I have is that the poets I mount
in my Webspace are very little read and no amount of advertising
will attract readers. REaders come in by Search Engines and why
they choose `Douglas Clark's poems' is a total mystery when much
better-known poets are available. This situation baffles me and
I have given up trying to understand it. Only my editions of some
poems and songs by Robert Burns get a decent reading.
The reason I bring this up is that over 90 per cent of the readership
is American and there is no understanding what they will read. The
British readership is miniscule. Chadwick-Healey will have a tiny
audience if they only cater for readers this side of the pond.
These Americans are incomprehensible.
And my thinking is a little muddled cos I am just back from the
pub where they wouldnt put the France-Scotland game on the TV
so I am in a great huff. The current score, in the second half,
is 2-1 to France. A dubious penalty just now on Radio 5.
